Homework Expectations

At our school, we believe homework should reinforce learning, build responsibility, and encourage a love of reading and math. Below are the nightly expectations by grade level:

Kindergarten & 1st Grade

  • Reading: 10 minutes

  • Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., number bonds, addition/subtraction facts)

2nd & 3rd Grade

  • Reading: 20 minutes

  • Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., flashcards, quick math games)

4th & 5th Grade

  • Reading: 30 minutes

  • Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., multiplication/division facts, digital practice tools)

📝 Helpful Tips for Home:

  • Reading can be independent, out loud to a family member, or even listening to an audiobook and following along!

  • Math fluency can be practiced with flashcards, apps, or real-life situations (like helping with measuring during cooking).

  • Consistency is key! A regular routine helps students build strong academic habits.
