Homework Expectations
At our school, we believe homework should reinforce learning, build responsibility, and encourage a love of reading and math. Below are the nightly expectations by grade level:
Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Reading: 10 minutes

Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., number bonds, addition/subtraction facts)
2nd & 3rd Grade

Reading: 20 minutes

Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., flashcards, quick math games)
4th & 5th Grade

Reading: 30 minutes

Math: At least 5 minutes of fact fluency practice (e.g., multiplication/division facts, digital practice tools)
📝 Helpful Tips for Home:

Reading can be independent, out loud to a family member, or even listening to an audiobook and following along!

Math fluency can be practiced with flashcards, apps, or real-life situations (like helping with measuring during cooking).
